SODERLING SAVES 2 M.P. TO END LLODRA'S FAIRYTALE RUN



World No. 5 Robin Soderling ended Michael Llodra’s fairytale run at the BNP Paribas Masters Saturday as he saved three match points to defeat the Frenchman 6-7(0), 7-5, 7-6(6) and reach his first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 final.

In a gripping 12th game of the third set, the Swede fended off match point three times and clinched victory in the decisive tie-break on his second match point after two hours and 49 minutes of action at the Palais Omnisports.

"Today it was a great match. It wasn't maybe pretty, but I'm here as a winner," reflected Soderling. "I think tennis is a very mental sport, because everybody can play; everybody is so good. So it's the mental [aspect] that's going to decide a lot of matches."

The 30-year-old Llodra, who was contesting his career-first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 semi-final, had fought back from a 1-4 deficit in the final set but could not complete the comeback. Earlier in the week the Paris native had defeated defending champion Novak Djokovic and Nikolay Davydenko.

"I'm upset. It would be lying if I told you that I am not angry at myself," said Llodra. "But anyway I did nothing wrong. I want to see the positive side of things. I beat Djokovic, Top 3; I beat [John] Isner, who I lost to last week; I beat another player that generally bothers me a lot. So I was able to have good matches. In a tie-break sometimes it's a lottery."

Soderling has produced another strong season, highlighted by winning his fifth ATP World Tour title in Rotterdam and reaching the Roland Garros final (l. to Nadal) for the second year in a row. The 26 year old is the fifth player to reach the Roland Garros final and Bercy title match in the same year.

The right-hander, who will line-up in the elite eight-man field at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in a week’s time, will overtake Andy Murray at a career-high World No. 4 in the South African Airways 2010 ATP Rankings if he wins the title in Paris-Bercy.

"All the top players want to do well in the big tournaments," said Soderling. "I think this year for me it's been very good in the Grand Slams and also in the Masters 1000s. I played two semi-finals, now one quarters, and a final. It's good, but I'm still missing a win. I really hope I can play well tomorrow, and then hopefully I have a chance.

"I feel perfect, which is very good because I have one big match coming up tomorrow, and also a couple of matches in London. So I'm really looking forward to the end of this season."

In the final, Soderling will face French hope Gael Monfils, against whom he has a 2-0 career record. The Tibro native is the first Swedish player to reach the final in Paris-Bercy since Jonas Bjorkman in 1997 and will look to become the first champion since Thomas Enqvist prevailed a year earlier. The last Swede to win an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title was Enqvist in Cincinnati in 2000.

Najgorsze jest to, że w takich okolicznościach Fed traci szanse na masę nowych rekordów.

Finał z Gaciami na USO przegrany przez własną głupotę, jak się później okazało przekreślił on szansę na "Roger Slam". Te Bercy to jakieś przeklęte jest.

Nie piszę więcej w tym wątku, Koledzy liczę na was.

Nie ma co drążyć tego tematu. Czwarta w tym roku żałosna wtopa po meczowych szansach, na własne życzenie.Ta wydaje się być  bolesna szczególnie dlatego,że wygranie w Bercy, jak wspomniał Dawid, spowodowałoby złamanie  kilku rekordów.

Wniosek z tego najwyraźniej płynie taki, że FedChoker/FedClown od jakiegoś czasu jest stałym elementem szwajcarskiego menu, i nikt, nawet on sam, nie zna dnia ani godziny, kiedy ta przeklęta część jego osobowości objawi się na korcie.
Nie można również odrzucić wątku przygotowania fizycznego, bo na pewno granie trzeciego turnieju na przestrzeni 4 tygodni miało niepośledni wpływ na dzisiejszą dyspozycję Rokera.

MONFILS SAVES 5 M.P. TO STUN FEDERER




Frenchman Gael Monfils reached the BNP Paribas Masters final for the second straight year after saving five match points to defeat World No. 2 Roger Federer 7-6(7), 6-7(1), 7-6(4) Saturday in Paris-Bercy.

In a raucous atmosphere at the Palais Omnisports, Paris-born Monfils was lifted by the home support to fight back from a 1-4 deficit in the final set, before saving five match points on his serve in the 12th game. The No. 12 seed then raised his level yet further in the decisive tie-break to clinch a dramatic victory in two hours and 41 minutes.

It was Monfils’ first win in six attempts over 16-time Grand Slam champion Federer; in their five previous meetings he had won only one set off the Swiss player. Monfils has saved seven match points en route to the final of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event, having also faced two match points in his third-round win over Fernando Verdasco.

“I'm happy I won against Rog. He's someone I admire a lot. He's a legend of tennis, ‘the’ legend, and beating him is a beautiful victory. I will remember that for my whole life,” declared Monfils. “And also it happened in very special conditions for me, in Paris, so it's only happiness.

“I was thinking it was a very good experience. This is why you practice all the time. It's to experience those special moments. The crowd was great. They were behind me. Well, you need to dare try something, and I was lucky because I was successful. On those match points I was trying to control myself, otherwise it would have been too difficult.”

In the final Monfils will face Sweden’s Robin Soderling, who prevented an all-French final by defeating Michael Llodra in three sets earlier in the day. The 24 year old will hope to go one step further than last year, when he finished runner-up to Novak Djokovic in a third-set tie-break, and is eager to avenge the straight-sets defeat he suffered to Soderling in the Valencia quarter-finals last week.

“The toughest thing for tomorrow is that I want that victory. I know it's not going to be easy, because Robin really killed me last week. I think I'm going to step into the court and put pressure on him as much as I can. I'm at home. I want that victory. It's going to be interesting, let's say.”

Monfils has staked a strong claim for one of the singles spots in the French Davis Cup team, when it faces Serbia in the World Group final next month, after a strong showing during the European indoor swing. He will look to win his second ATP World Tour title of the season, after triumphing in Montpellier (d. Ljubicic) two weeks ago.

It is the fourth time this year that Federer has lost a match having held match points. Against Marcos Baghdatis in the Indian Wells third round Federer squandered three match points, and two weeks later he missed a match point chance in a fourth-round defeat to Tomas Berdych. In the US Open semi-finals, the Swiss was denied on two match points in a five-set defeat to Novak Djokovic.

Despite the defeat, Federer maintained he was in good form heading into the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in a week’s time. “I feel good. I'm playing well. It was not a bad match today. I'm happy with my performance. Clearly with a victory today I would have had big chances of winning this tournament tomorrow. This is not the case, so now I have to look at the future. I'm going to prepare for London.

"I feel good physically. In a way it is a relief that I was able to finish the tournament in good physical health. I'm fresh mentally, too. This is the most important thing. I'm going to back to Switzerland quickly and I'm going to prepare for London, because London is the great final of the year. I think I have good chances maybe in London for winning."

Powodzenia w finale.

Chłopcem do bicia to Francuz nigdy nie był. Nie przesadzaj. Faktem, niestety jest, że najlepsze wyniki osiąga on we Francji. Poza Europą się w ogóle nie może odnaleźć(wyjątek: tegoroczne Tokio). Zwycięstwa z Metz, Montepellier, finały Bercy, Lyon, Metz, półfinał RG.  Jakoś ta statystyka i przy tym występie nie napawa czymś szczególnym

Tu akurat Roger w żadnym stopniu nie zasłużył na zwycięstwo. Co najmniej 3 mp to konsekwencja "świń" po siatce. Masa szczęścia nie starczyła. Widocznie forma już nie ta

Panowie grali ze sobą w zeszłym tygodniu, w ćwierćfinale Walencji. Robin Soderling wygrał 6-3 6-2.

Przed jego ostatnimi finałami i wygranymi też tak można było mówić. No cóż ta jego zasra..na psychika wyśle go w czeluścia tenisowej hańby.

Najbardziej w takich meczach boli to, że Federer psuje sobie H2H z graczami, z którymi dotychczas miał perfekcyjne bilanse X-0 np. z Soderlingiem, a teraz z Monfem. Coraz więcej graczy wygrało z nim przynajmniej jeden mecz, a więc pokonanie Federera przestało być czymś wielkim. Wygrane z nim przez takich tenisistów, niestety daje cień na osiągnięcia Rogera i podważają jego perfekcję. Mam wrażenie, że Fed psuje sobie wizerunek przed przejściem na emeryturę.
Była to 150 przegrana Feda z graczami praworęcznymi, zbliża się on również do 300 wygranych tb. Ależ sobie psuje statystyki przegrywając w tak głupi sposób:(

Oczywiście, że nic ale to co on wyprawia ostatnio to aż włos dęba staje tak samo jak przy jego galaxy shot Gdyby nie ta psycha to na ziemi zapanował by cudowny stan upojenia tenisowego.
